Mindfulness in Communication: Using Your Creativity to Meet the Moment with Kathy Simon

When we face a conversation that is not so easy, we often feel stuck; it can seem like we do not have good choices about what to say or do next. But there are always choices, more than meet the eye, and some of them might be fruitful! The trick is slowing down enough — paying compassionate attention to yourself and to the other person — to move beyond habitual responses and to open yourself up to more creativity, playfulness, and expansiveness in how you relate.
In this workshop, we’ll take the time to unleash this particular kind of creativity: the creativity to approach stuck conversations in new ways, ways that feel most aligned with who you want to be.
Where: The Commons, Great Hall, North Building, 1st Floor – 840 Echo Park Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90026
When: Sunday, August, 17 10:00am-1:00pm
Parking: Garage parking is available with elevator access to the gathering space on Level 1, where all surfaces are paved or carpeted. Please enter the garage at Laguna Avenue and press 001 to be buzzed in. Street level access is on Echo Park Ave by staircase (2 flights) or elevator. Biking, carpooling, walking, etc. are also encouraged. NOTE: For the safety of our community, please do not attempt to enter or exit through the back gate on Laguna Ave.
