Lunch and Learn with Rabbi Avi Dabush

January 24 @ 12:30 pm 1:30 pm PST

Join Rabbi Avi Dabush, executive director of New Israel Fund flagship grantee Rabbis for Human Rights, for a conversation about how we apply Jewish tradition towards activism for a better Israel and Palestine. A survivor of the October 7 massacre on Kibbutz Nirim, Rabbi Dabush leads with empathy and nuance through RHR’s work challenging settler violence in the West Bank through protective presence during the harvest season, interfaith dialogue, and humanitarian relief programs.

About Rabbi Avi Dabush

Rabbi Avi Dabush is the director of NIF Grantee Rabbis for Human Rights, an inter-denominational movement in Israel promoting human rights and an end to the occupation of the West Bank–spreading awareness of the situation and motivated by the Jewish believe that every person was made in the image of God. Avi was born in southern Israel to a religious, right-wing, Mizrahi family. Over the last two decades he has been involved in and has led several social organizations and movements, including the Negev Council and the Movement of the Peripheries, and was one of the organizers of the Equality March in 2016 and 2022. Avi also worked for Shatil-NIF for several years. He is the author of the book The Periphery Rebellion and a regular op-ed contributor for Haaretz and Israel Hayom. Avi was recently ordained at Beit Midrash for Israeli Rabbis, holds an MA in organizational sociology from Ben Gurion University of the Negev and is a graduate of the Heschel Institute Sustainability Leadership.
