Tikkun Collective Update: December 3, 2020

Community, Tikkun

Dear Nefesh Tikkun Collective,

It’s Nadine and Leila, your Nefesh Tikkun Collective co-chairs. We are working with Nefesh leadership on our next steps to advance racial justice, incarceration justice, and immigration justice.

We will have our next meeting in early January to kick off 2021 with tikkun olam. Please stay tuned to sign up.
In the meantime, here are some ways to take action in the coming day and weeks. First, a reflection on the hard work we did on Prop. 15.

Reflecting on Prop. 15 (sharing from Jews for Prop. 15) Well, we lost. Prop 15 came close but did not cross the finish line, 48% in favor to 52% against. The proximity to victory was crushing. But alas, it also speaks to the possibilities of Prop 15 passing in the future.
In that sense, we also won. There was an unprecedented swell of support to roll back Prop 13 on commercial real estate. This third rail of California politics is now in play in a way no one could have ever imagined.

You made a difference. Each of your votes, your phone calls, texts, and emails to friends, each time you spoke out in support of Prop 15 was another brick in the foundation that will lead to our victory in future efforts.
