DESCRIPTION:Starting May 13\, both to meet a request from our community for more regular daily prayer practice and to create a supportive space for mourners who are saying Kaddish\, including Rabbi Susan and her family\, we are launching a weekly Tuesday Morning Shacharit Minyan. You can join in person at St. Paul’s Commons or on Zoom. \n\n\n\n\nSign Up for Tuesday Shacharit\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nHere are the details: \n\n\n\nWhen: Tuesday from 9:15-10am \n\n\n\nWhere: Jonathan Daniels Room on the 2nd floor of the South Building at The Commons (840 Echo Park Avenue\, Los Angeles\, CA 90026) or on Zoom (additional details below)What: We will gather for a brief Shacharit morning service to pray in community\, share some words\, and say Kaddish. We will need a minyan of 10 people for each gathering. What is Shacharit? \n\n\n\nPlease sign up for as many dates as you would like to participate. \n\n\n\nSuggested Contibution: $18-$36/per person\, no one turned away for lack of funds. \n\n\n\nHealth & Safety: Masks are encouraged if you are indoors but are not required. \n\n\n\nParking & Accessibility: Garage parking is available with elevator access to the gathering space on Level 1\, where all surfaces are paved or carpeted. Please enter the garage at 850 Echo Park Avenue or 850 Laguna Ave and press 001 to be buzzed in. Street level access is on Echo Park Ave by staircase (2 flights). Biking\, carpooling\, walking\, etc. are also encouraged. Sally will be guiding you through learning the language\, melody and harmony of this beautiful prayer and the Avinu Malkeinu so that we can sing them all together on Erev Yom Kippur (Wednesday\, October 1\, 2025). SUMMARY:Elul Spiritual Challenge with Rabbi Susan
DESCRIPTION:Sign up for the Elul Spiritual Challenge\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIn the month of Elul*\, before the year renews on Rosh Hashanah\, we have the opportunity to prepare – individually and in community – for the transition and transformation of a new cycle of the calendar\, the seasons\, and the moon. This intentional preparation deepens the experience and possibilities inside the High Holy Days. \n\n\n\nThe Elul Spiritual Challenge is a week-by-week offering of practices during the month of Elul which begins on Aug 24. This year’s theme is Compassionate Attention. We will explore attention in multiple ways: what we are tending to and what we are avoiding\, our social media presence\, and our attention to transitions throughout our day and year. \n\n\n\nWe will practice this through a series of videos from Rabbi Susan and a live offering from Rabbi Susan and Avriel Epps\, PhD on Zoom. Dr. Epps is data scientist and Postdoctoral Fellow at the Cornell University CATLab\, who will dive into the spiritual concept of Teshuvah for Your Digital Self: Owning Your Data Story in Elul. \n\n\n\nNOTE: When you sign up for the ESC you DO NOT have to sign up separately for the Avriel Epps Zoom event. \n\n\n\nYou are encouraged to support yourself through this Elul offering in chevruta/study partnerships. You can opt to be paired with someone when you sign up OR enter the challenge with a partner of your choosing. \n\n\n\nWhen: Sundays starting August 24th including an online offering with Avriel Sunday\, August 31st \n\n\n\nLocation: We’ll have a password protected page up on the Nefesh website that you’ll have access to starting August 24th and throughout High Holy Days. Information about access will be shared with registrants soon. \n\n\n\nPrice: Sliding scale $36-54. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. \n\n\n\n*This year\, the month of Elul (the final month of the Jewish calendar\, year 5784) is from sundown on August 24th to Erev Rosh Hashanah on September 22nd.
