Nefesh is a community that holds the song of the self, the song of the other, and the song of the world in equal measure.
The Nefesh B’nai Mitzvah program embraces all three: our inner lives and spiritual growth, as well as care, responsibility and knowledge of others AND the repair of the world. Nefesh is a community that reminds, supports, and provides teachings and practices to help us hold all three.
At Nefesh we believe that becoming a B’nai Mitzvah is an individual moment and a collective moment all at once. It is about your story and the story of our people. Whether on Zoom or in person, we are dedicated to finding creative ways to connect as a community.
Rabbi Susan lovingly leads the B’nai Mitzvah process guiding the students individually and collectively in their D’var Torah work. Nefesh Music Director, Duvid Swirsky, will lead individual weekly Torah and T’filah study, preparing students with his deep knowledge of Torah, liturgy, and music.
The Tikkun Olam project is a valued part of this program. Each student will identify a cause or service project to support by volunteering and/or raising funds. What’s most important is that students get to deeply connect with something that they care about and work with the Nefesh community to raise awareness and support.
